Job Description

Candidate will work in Dr. Ma’s Lab in the Syracuse Biomaterials Institute and Department of Biomedical & Chemical Engineering, Syracuse University. Dr. Ma’s System Tissue Engineering & Morphogenesis (STEM) lab ( focuses on tissue engineering, organ-on-chip system and human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells for cardiovascular applications. The work will consist of microfluidics and microdevices fabrication, stem cell culture and differentiation, and generation of cardiac microtissues for drug screening purpose.


Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Engineering or related fields and have demonstrated experience in microfabrication.

Job Specific Qualifications

Candidate is expected to have extensive skills on design and fabrication of microfluidic systems. The candidates with cell culture experience and molecular biology skills will have the priority for consideration.


Reporting to the PI, assist with research for grant funded project.
Design, fabrication and characterization of microfluidics and microdevices.
Culture and differentiate human iPS cells into cardiac cells.
Generate the cardiac microtissues in the microdevices, analyze microtissue contractile functions, and perform molecular biology studies.
Collect, analyze and interpret experimental data.
Write scientific publications and help PI on grant applications.
Train less experienced personnel in the group.
