Job Description

The Graphic Designer is responsible for developing accessible and engaging publicity for the LGBT RC. Under the direction of their supervisor, this person will be responsible for the following:

• Designing flyers, posters, banners, signs, advertisements, invitations, website banners, social media publicity, videos, etc. to promote the LGBT RC’s events, programs, and services
• Developing and implementing a strategic social media plan for the LGBT RC
• Supporting the planning and implementation of the LGBT RC’s weekly Social Justice Series

The Graphic Designer also has the potential to facilitate one of the LGBT RC’s discussion groups (Cross Q Connections, Embody, Fusion).

The person in this position will also conduct routine office duties as directed. Responsibilities include: answering the phone, receiving visitors, filing, sorting, maintaining records, providing information, running errands, doing word processing, entering data, operating basic office machines, and providing referrals.

The Graphic Designer will work as part of a team of student and senior staff. They will be expected to attend:

• Bi-weekly all staff meetings (1-2 hours)
• Weekly one-on-one supervisory meetings
• Orientation & training session (Saturday, 9/2, from 9 AM – 5 PM & Sunday, 9/3, from 10 AM – 3 PM)
• Certain LGBT RC events & programs

Sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, staff, and community members with marginalized genders and sexualities is a must. Design experience required. Skills in design and publishing software (Adobe Creative Cloud) are also essential.
