Job Description

The School of Architecture at Syracuse University seeks a part time instructor to teach ARC 194 – Drawing for Non-Majors (3 credits) in Fall 2017.

Teaching is at the undergraduate level. Candidates with strong artistic direction are encouraged to apply. Candidates must possess professional design experience and a record research. The School is committed to supporting diversity in its student population, faculty, and curriculum.


A professional degree (M. Arch) is required, and experience teaching drawing is preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

The school is particularly interested in candidates with expertise in teaching drawing.


Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.

Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.

Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.

Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.

Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.

Meeting all designated class periods.

Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.

Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
