Job Description

This is a 10-month, academic year position.

MPD is seeking an accomplished post production practitioner from the professional and/or academic communities. The successful candidate will help undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of documentary and commercial photography/video, with the best practices in still and motion digital post production, work flow, and digital asset management, including Photoshop, Lightroom, CaptureOne, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and InDesign. We seek individuals with real and unique vision who can inspire students and be able to break down the essential digital post production concepts, techniques and work flow needed to enter this dynamic profession, and must place these technical skills in an historical and ethical context. Additional responsibilities will include printing and hanging of periodic shows as well as overseeing the maintenance of the digital capture and output facilities.

Qualifications

This position requires significant professional achievement in post production, as demonstrated in a portfolio of work.

Prior teaching experience at the college level and or a master’s degree is a plus but not required.

Job Specific Qualifications

- This applicant should demonstrate through a portfolio of work (which may include work produced by their students) significant professional achievement in postproduction.
- Capabilities in color management from capture to output is critical. This will be applied in the running of our lab, studio and in printing exhibitions.
- Ability to communicate their experience and knowledge to others.
- Organized and a self starter.
- Team player.

Responsibilities

-Help our students understand the best practices in postproduction, archiving, and workflow.
-Help our students understand various photography, design and video software programs.
-Oversee our image capture facilities (studio spaces) and output facilities (our labs.)
-Oversee our relationship with equipment manufacturers and the gear they provide us.
-Curate our exhibition spaces, print and hang shows.
