Job Description

Tutors meet in face-to-face sessions in the Stevenson Educational Center with assigned student-athletes to assist them with curriculum based content, as well as developing academic strategies and skills. Sessions are typically scheduled weekly and continue for the duration of the semester. All sessions are typically 1-2 hours in length.

Responsibilities

To apply as a Tutor, you must be able to tutor at least one of the following course content areas:

Accounting Anthropology Biology Chemistry Child and Family Studies (CFS) Communication and Rhetorical Studies (CRS) Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Earth Science (EAR) Economics Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises (EEE) Finance Geology Health and Wellness (HTW) History Language (Spanish, French, Arabic, etc) Marketing Mathematics Nutrition (NSD) Philosophy Political Science Psychology Sociology Sport Management Supply Chain Management Writing
Required Qualifications

Tutors must hold sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student status.

Tutors must have a demonstrated ability to tutor the specific subject area and must have earned at least a “B+” in the subject area and receive approval from the department.

Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Exhibit effective verbal and written communication skills.
Present themselves as an appropriate academic role model for student-athletes.
Maintain the highest level of academic integrity.
Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of individuals.
Demonstrate an ability to develop professional relationships with student-athletes.
Maintain confidentiality at all times and adhere to specific standards of ethical conduct.

Tutors are expected to participate in mandatory meetings and training sessions. If the times offered conflict with your schedule, in some cases, arrangements may be made with the tutor coordinator.

Individuals must attend training sessions before they can begin receiving tutor assignments.
