Job Description

The School of Education at Syracuse University is looking for an individual who will teach PED 200 Indoor Cycling – Intermediate (1 credit)

Course Description:
Indoor cycling is a group exercise class done on stationary bikes. This intermediate level course builds on the skill and endurance level of the beginning cycling course. The instructor will challenge the students with simulation of flat roads, climbing hills, and sprint rides for cardiovascular and strength exercise.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree and college teaching experience preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

Discipline-specific certification required.
Knowledge of and ability to work with participants with intermediate and advanced levels of cycling.

Responsibilities

Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.

Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.

Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.

Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.

Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.

Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.

Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.

Participating in departmental meetings or workshops.

Completing CAEP data reporting as required.

Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.

Other responsibilities as indicated.

Physical Requirements

The candidate will need to demonstrate the physical skills required to lead students through the appropriate activity.
