Job Description

Syracuse Say Yes to Education invites applications from fun, enthusiastic and motivated tutors to work group, and one-on-one with students in the Saturday SAT Prep Program. SAT tutors will be responsible for assisting lead instructors in the targeted subject areas of Math, Critical Reading and Critical Writing for high school students. SAT Prep’s focus on student engagement is a top priority to better assess the student’s needs and how best to address them, so we encourage all tutors who are committed to becoming a positive face and voice of support to our area youth, to apply immediately. This position is part-time, Saturday mornings, beginning at 8:30am, ending at 2:00pm. The pay is $10 per hour and is paid through your Federal Work Study award. Prior experience with the SAT or ACT is helpful, and all tutors are required to have a passion for youth and at least one of our subject areas.

Required Qualifications

Tutors must:
• Commit to three, five week sessions for the 2017/18 school year, 6 hours of work per week
• Attend all required orientation session(s) prior to starting position
• Be available to work all shifts unless otherwise discussed with Say Yes staff
• Cannot have more than 1 unexcused shift, otherwise, job will be terminated
• Act and dress professionally, t-shirts will be provided and must be worn while representing Syracuse University and Say Yes to Education
• Maintain regular communication with Graduate Assistants through email
• Maintain regular, weekly timesheets and submit them to GA’s and Say Yes office by 12pm on Wednesdays via email or drop-off
