Job Description

The Office of Financial Systems Management at Syracuse University is seeking I to hire a Functional Systems Specialist.

The Functional Systems Specialist will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and documenting system issues within the financials suite using Hyperion Reporting and PeopleSoft applications.

The Functional Systems Specialist will assist in the collection and documentation of business requirements from subject matter experts within the Comptroller’s Office and work with the functional business analysts to prepare specification documents.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree and a minimum one to three years’ experience with a computing and/or project management environment is required.

Job Specific Qualifications

Experience supporting users of an information system in an administrative setting is required. Familiarity with PeopleSoft/Oracle is recommended.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are recommended; technical writing skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

Responsible for identifying, assessing, and documenting system issues within the financials suite. Should have strong analytical skills to assist in problem resolution. Perform system audits and reconciliations via Hyperion Reporting and support daily operations of the financial systems within the Comptroller’s office as assigned. This is an entry-level position within Financial Systems Management that will provide a supporting role to the functional business analysts and end-users.

Support the day to day operations of general accounting and other areas of the Comptroller’s Office as assigned. Provide ad-hoc reporting and/or update existing reportsfor financial users.

Accurately and efficiently execute pre-defined test plans of system patches and upgrades on a routine basis and document the results. The candidate will interact with both the end users and system developers while participating in the system development life cycle.

Provide basic coverage and guidance to end users
