Job Description

Excellent opportunity to join Syracuse University’s Information Technology Core Infrastructure Services (CIS) group as an Systems Administrator (IT Analyst). Working as part of a highly successful and motivated team, this position will help to provide technical solutions in a fast-paced, ever-changing IT landscape.
CIS engineers, operates, and supports many computing platforms that the University community utilizes, including Active Directory, Office 365, desktop computing, research computing, and various communications platforms.


2 plus years of IT focused higher education or 4 plus years of equivalent work experience

Job Specific Qualifications

• Adept at troubleshooting problems and investigating solutions
• DevOps or programming experience (Powershell, C# preferred)
• Maintain the highest levels of data security
• Ability to prioritize workloads and transition between simultaneous projects
• Ability to convey technical information to clients and other IT personnel utilizing oral and written communications
• Experience installing and configuring all facets of Windows operating systems
• Understanding of fundamental networking concepts
• Understanding of the concepts of client-server interaction
• Familiarity with automation frameworks (GPO, DSC, Puppet, Chef) preferred
• Familiarity with Active Directory and Office365 administration preferred
• Familiarity with Apple and Linux operating systems preferred
• Knowledge of information security best practices preferred
• Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting server hardware preferred


• In collaboration with IT leads, develop IT solutions to enhance and improve the enterprise infrastructure and application platforms for the campus community. This development will focus on campus wide platforms including identity management, Active Directory, Office 365, desktop computing, and research infrastructure.
• Oversight and administration of server, desktop, cloud, and research computing frameworks.
• Implement technologies and industry toolsets for use by distributed IT staff. Create and maintain documentation and procedures for services and applications to be used by both central and distributed IT staff.
• Serve as the central contact for IT questions related to infrastructure and application platforms. Review, investigate and respond to service requests from campus IT community.
• Management of campus wide enterprise applications through development of automated processes and procedures
