Job Description

The Nutrition Program is seeking to hire a Dietetic Internship Director. The Dietetic Internship program is a Certificate of Advanced Study within the Nutrition Science Graduate Program in the Department of Public Health, Food Studies and Nutrition. The Dietetic Internship Program provides students with the opportunity to gain the necessary competency for careers as entry-level dietitians and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. This is a 12 month full-time position.

Qualifications

The person in this position must hold the Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist credential.
Should have minimum of a master’s degree and at least 3 years of work experience in the field of nutrition and dietetics.

Must be a certified dietitian/nutritionist in the state of New York.

Job Specific Qualifications

Must have a basic understanding of the accreditation process and standards for nutrition and dietetics.

Must have strong interpersonal-skills in order to communicate effectively with interns, preceptors and colleagues.

Responsibilities

The Dietetic Internship Director will be responsible for the program delivery of the dietetic internship, administrative duties of the dietetic internship including the budget, securing and managing preceptor sites/contracts, coordination of the admissions process of students into the dietetic internship, as well as maintaining and tracking accreditation standards.

Additionally, the Dietetic Internship Director will be responsible for the issuance of verification statements to students who complete the program.

The Dietetic Internship director will maintain a permanent file of these verification statements and will assure the timely submission of graduate eligibility for the Commission on Dietetic Registration credentialing exam.
