Job Description

The Office of Disbursement Processing at Syracuse University is seeking to hire an Accounts Payable Analyst.

The Accounts Payable Analyst is responsible for a mix of Accounts Payable activities including facilitation of travel advances, travel and expense processing, credit card reconciliation, non-PO invoice processing, customer inquiry resolution, analytics, reporting, and training. Specific responsibilities will vary, based on University needs.

This role will support the PeopleSoft system automation during and after implementation of the new modules. This role is an integral part of Disbursement Processing’s service delivery and is expected to provide exceptional customer service to the campus end users and key stakeholders.

Qualifications

Associates degree in Finance or Accounting or appropriate combination of education and work experience required.

Experience with Accounts Payable in a high volume environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

Travel and Expense (Implementation Project and Production Support)

• Provide back up support for other areas of the department

• Analyze, review and resolve inquiries related to travel advances, travel and expense reimbursements, and credit card reconciliation expense reports input into the PeopleSoft system

• Assist with exceptions related to reimbursements and credit card transactions input into the PeopleSoft system, including data entry, coding and required attachments

• Assist with system issues and workflow approval routing for employees, supervisors and departmental users. Working closely with Human Resources related to personnel changes

• Provide training and support to focus groups and campus end-users

• Log activities, analyze expense data, and create daily, monthly, and fiscal year reports for management

Invoice Automation (Implementation Project and Production Support)

• Analyze, review and resolve inquiries related to non-PO invoice payments input into the PeopleSoft system

• Assist with exceptions related to non-PO invoices input into the PeopleSoft system, including data entry, coding, attachments, and appropriate vendor selection

• Assist with system issues and workflow approval routing for employees, supervisors and departmental users. Work closely with Human Resources related to personnel changes

• Provide training and support to focus groups and campus end-users

• Respond to and resolve inquires (phone and email) from employees and departmental end-users including documentation/resolution management

• Correspond with campus end users via phone and email related to University policies and procedures

• Maintain files and documentation, thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with standard department protocols

• Research payment discrepancies (employees, students, and guests of the University)

• Analyze, review and resolve inquiries related to travel and expense reimbursements for students and guests of the University submitted on existing paper forms.

• Maintain master vendor data, including but not limited to: manually entering, reviewing, and validating addresses, verifying employment status, verifying and updating banking information, verifying citizenship, and managing taxpayer identification numbers with the IRS.

• Resolve e-Procurement workflow approval routing issues

• Assist with match exceptions and credit balance resolution
