Job Description

Teach one section of IST663 –– April Quarter 2018 Online.

Methods for designing, delivering, and evaluating information and digital literacy skills instruction in schools. Exploration of appropriate interventions that support student motivation for learning 21st century skills and ways of fostering librarian-teacher collaboration.

The course is intended to help students gain skills and knowledge in:

• Designing, delivering, and assessing instruction that motivates students to acquire and use skills needed for learning in an information environment.

• Planning inquiry-based learning experiences.

• Selecting and using information resources and instructional technologies to facilitate student motivation and inquiry-based learning.

• Connecting instruction to national and state standards.

• Integrating instruction across the curriculum.

• Providing instructional leadership, collaboration, and support in inquiry-based teaching and learning in schools and districts.


Master’s Degree in Library Science, School Media, Information Management or related field.

Prior to the first class session:

• Meet with and collaborate with Course Leads, who are responsible for creating the course syllabus and course content, as well as providing an overview of his/her overall vision for the course.
• Attend onboarding and training with the iSchool’s FCTL, the Online Faculty Support Team and the 2SU platform/learning management system.
• Preview asynchronous portion of course in preparation for planning and conducting the synchronous section in alignment with the asynchronous content.
• Order the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
• Prepare lesson plans, projects or other student assignments as needed to complement the synchronous-session frame that may have been provided by the course lead.

During the quarter:

• Prepare for and conduct weekly synchronous session with students.
• Maintain regular communication with students.
• Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner; provide feedback when appropriate.

After the class is completed:

• Submit final class grades before the University deadline.
• Encourage students to complete the course evaluation.
