Job Description

Syracuse University’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) in the College of Engineering and Computer Science (http://eng-cs.syr.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty appointment at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor.
The Department and the college have distinguished itself with research strength that includes cybersecurity, assurance, artificial intelligence, multi-agent systems, robotics, cognitive networks and data analytics. The department and college have expertise on the hardware, embedded systems, mechanical engineering, control, and cyber-security. Additionally, Central New York is emerging as a center for R&D for unmanned aerial systems (UAS), UAS traffic management, precision sensing, and secure, cross-connected wireless platforms.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have an earned a doctoral degree in computer science or a related discipline.
• The Department seeks strong candidates whose research and teaching expertise aligns with the strategic direction of the Department, with preference for candidates pursuing research in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, especially related to the intelligent and algorithmic aspects of cyber-physical systems. Application areas of such experts can be — but not limited to — robotics, UAVs, Internet of Things, multi-agent systems, and autonomous systems.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Candidates will have strong communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and student mentoring.
• Designation of assistant/associate professors will be given commensurate with experience.
• A senior candidate should have a distinguished track record of scholarship.

Responsibilities

Candidates will:
•Engage in research and scholarly activity, including publishing in peer-reviewed publications, presenting at conferences and obtaining external funding.
•Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in core areas of cyber security, computer science, and computer engineering.
•Mentor and advice undergraduate and graduate students.
•Involve undergraduate students in research
•Participate in professional, university, and community outreach.
