Job Description

The Business Intelligence Specialist preforms new setup and ongoing maintenance to BI system platform. Responsible for testing of all work introduced into the BI production environment. Works with OIRA personnel to facilitate development of new BI reports and system customization. Collaborates with ITS and OIRA personnel on database design is it relates to the BI platform environment. Provides support for the development of new BI reports and dashboards as well as the creation and maintenance of metadata documentation.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Experience working in systems development life cycle (SDLC) models, understanding requirements, documenting, coordinating with an IT team to execute the requirements into a quantifiable data element, and testing/validating data elements along with Business users.
• Over five years’ experience with data warehousing and relational databases performing data modeling, data loading (ETL) and reporting.
• Two or more years’ experience with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) or similar enterprise level business intelligence platform.
• Good Structured Query Language (SQL) and Procedural Language/Structured Query Language (PLSQL) skills
• Familiarity working in a complex data environment

Responsibilities

• Perform development/administration functions for business intelligence (BI) software including but not limited to Oracle Business Intelligence 12c, including designing metadata, testing/validating, implementing and deploying data models and business analytic solutions, establishing and documenting data definitions, and performing server/system administration
• Analyze records, systems and processes related to BI tool development ; perform validation of data in various systems and tools, including data warehouse and BI tool
• Design, develop and implement user interface objects within BI tool, including reports, graphics and dashboards; where applicable, assist colleagues in designing, developing and implementing such objects. Assist with different reporting tools such as Hyperion Interactive Reporting, R and the Shiny App, SAS, and others.
• Create and maintain BI systems and business requirements documents and process documentation related to BI tool development and administration in support of existing metadata procedures
• Assist with compilation and submission of internal, external, statutory or ad hoc reports; where applicable, compare current year report to prior year report to identify anomalies and/or trends
