Job Description

The Department of African American Studies at Syracuse University invites applications for Spring 2018 semester.

AAS 206 – Introduction: African American Music" (3 credits) a non-tenure track,African American Studies and Musicology adjunct PTI position. Meets Tuesday/Thursday 11:00 am – 12:20 pm.

AAS 206 Intro: African American Music introduces students to the contributions and transformations made in the music that the enslaved African brought to the western hemisphere.

Appointment will begin one week before the start of classes in January 9, 2018 and end May 9, 2018. The first day of class will begin January 16 , 2018

Qualifications

A Doctorate (or ABD) required. Black Studies and Musicology doctoral training preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

We are especially interested in candidates who have the ability to teach:(AAS 206) Intro: African American Music
The teaching load will be one course in the Spring 2018 semester only.

Responsibilities

Required to maintain regular office hours

Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.

Submitting completed mid-semester reports and final grades according to University regulations
