Job Description


If you have the availability, flexibility and willingness to work a temporary assignment, then consider the temporary administrative support opportunities at Syracuse University.
All positions start at a minimum of $11.83/hour, locations and hours varied according to department needs.
General duties include, intermediate administrative support to an organizational unit, answering phones, data entry, greeting visitors (students, faculty, staff, parents, outside vendors).

The work requires the use of considerable independent judgment and discretion in support of the work efforts of a College, School, or Department.
Candidates will possess strong communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal), tact and diplomacy, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, and flexibility.
Positions become available periodically based on the needs of campus departments.


Associate degree and at least two years administrative support experience is required.

Job Specific Qualifications

The successful candidates must have the current skills:

Strong communication skills verbal/written/interpersonal);

Attention to detail;

Excellent customer service;

Professional presence as well as ability to represent departments with tact and diplomacy;

Familiarity with Microsoft Office products required;

Experience with Microsoft Access and PowerPoint helpful;

Data entry experience;

Budgeting experience is a plus.


General responsibilities will vary but may include:

Receptionist responsibilities;

Answering phones;

Photocopying and filing documents;

Data entry;

Creating spreadsheets;

Mailings and correspondences;

Greeting visitors (students, faculty, staff, parents, outside vendors);

Additional administrative duties as needed.
