Telefund operates during the academic year. There is no calling during summer break, winter break, or some holidays. There are six calling shifts per week (hours below) and callers are required to work two shifts per week.

Sunday Eve-Thursday, 5:45-9:00pm

Job Description

Call alumni and parents of current SU students to raise money for The Fund for Syracuse, the University’s annual giving program. Gather updated biographical information from each prospect in an effort to maintain current and accurate records. Inform each prospect about current campus news and events. Promote a positive relationship between Syracuse University and its constituents.

Callers are eligible to apply for a Stats or Clerical position after one semester with above-average performance and a good attendance record. Callers are eligible to be invited to apply for a Student Manager position after two semesters with above-average performance and a good attendance record.

The Telefund Office is located in the basement of the Women’s Building, Room 013. Enter through the parking lot entrance (you must have a valid SUID to enter after 5pm), take the stairs down on the left and follow signs for The Fund for Syracuse. Parking is permitted in the Women’s Building lots with any valid SU parking pass after 5pm. You cannot park in the lots during Dome events (i.e. football/basketball games).



Required Qualifications

You must be a current SU student to apply. No previous experience necessary. If hired, you will be required to attend two training sessions to learn the necessary skills to be a successful caller.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Caller must be fluent and able to clearly communicate in English, have strong telephone communication skills, polite phone manners, and a strong listening ability. Callers need to be able to respond to questions and objections quickly and appropriately. Callers must abide by Telefund’s rules and regulations, meet minimum performance standards, and maintain confidentiality regarding prospect information. All callers must also complete the Federal I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification and New York state Pay Notice Acknowledgement processes after being hired.
