Job Description

Student Gaming Consultants monitor the Digital Scholarship Space (DSS) in Bird Library, checking out and configuring equipment for guest users.

Responsibilities

Consultants support guests face-to-face and assist them in using the cutting-edge digital tools provided in the Digital Scholarship Space. In an average shift, consults will:
• Open the DSS for public use
• Welcome and provide orientation to guest users
• Inventory computer peripherals and check them in and out to guest users
• Connect computers, gaming consoles, virtual reality systems, and audio-visual devices to the campus network and to each other
• Think creatively and use internet research skills in troubleshooting computer and network connection problems
• Follow written documentation and procedures
• Create reports on technology problems
• Stay abreast of new hardware and software technologies

Required Qualifications

Applicants must be a current Syracuse University undergraduate or graduate student.
Successful applicants will excel at problem solving and have excellent people skills. Prior customer service experience is particularly valuable.
Must be able to balance work, school and personal life to fill shifts reliably. Must be able to work independently.
Students early in their degree program with receive priority consideration.

Job Specific Qualifications

Candidates should possess knowledge of contemporary console gaming systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in setting up and configuring audio/visual systems.
