Job Description

This position serves as an Installation Coordinator for the Onward to Opportunity program and will be part of the team delivering a new best-in-class education and skills-training program to assist transitioning service members and spouses. This position will serve Joint Base Lewis-McChord, located approximately 45 miles south of Seattle, Washington. This position will be based in Washington state at or near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and will be responsible implementing customized training developed by IVMF and coordinating enrollment and delivery of training for their assigned areas. The position closely coordinates with the Program Coordinator, Advisor, external partners, and reports to the Installation Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Excellent organization, planning, and project management experience
• Experience in classroom instruction or training environment
• Experience working with veterans and/or military families
• Prior service or connection to the United States military preferred

Job Specific Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including planning and organizing training
• Strong desire and ability to motivate and support transitioning service members and family members from military to corporate careers
• Familiarity with government programs and services for transitioning service members and families, veterans, veteran families, person with disabilities, mental health, substance abuse, housing, education or other relevant veteran and family issues

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site coordinator for all program participants, instructors, collaborators and sponsors
• Implement customized training programs in a classroom setting
• Manage enrollment in on-base training
• Assist in developing an effective outreach and recruiting plan for attracting transitioning service members and active duty spouses
• Assist in actively recruiting by leveraging on base opportunities and organizations (Transition Processing Center, Service member and Family Assistance Center, Career Center)
• Coordinate program meeting and event space, Audio/Visual requirements and other logistics as required, cultivate appropriate relationships with on-base facilities management and transition offices to support program requirements
• Cultivate appropriate relationships with interested applicants
• Provide candidate pools for each training track
• Communicate with prospective applicants the results of assessments
• Co-lead program orientation sessions with the Installation Manager
• Maintain class schedules and agendas
• Track referral and placement of participants with employer partners
• Provide graduates with follow-on resources (employment resource toolkits, etc.)
• Assist the Installation Manager in developing and distributing ongoing marketing initiatives, including presentations, brochures, press releases, social media, and other promotional materials
• Assist the Installation Manager in tracking and reporting required results and statistics
• Track participants’ progress through step of the program from start to finish – to include advancing to employer placement
