Job Description

IVMF is seeking an innovative, technically proficient and experienced professional to serve as the Institute’s web developer. This position will be responsible for the maintenance of all IVMF websites and lead in the development of new web platforms and related initiatives. He/she will be will be responsible for unifying and expanding the IVMF web presence and functionality as the Institute concurrently builds out its data management strategy and practices. The Web Developer will collaborate with peers, staff, and external partners to develop and implement integrating technologies to bridge various software systems that comply with all technical and operational standards including responsive design, accessibility, and other Department and University standards. Reporting to the IT Director, the Web Developer will assist in expanding the IVMFs outreach through the effective use of emerging technologies and stay informed of leading edge technical trends and solutions.


• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
• A minimum of three years of relevant experience developing web-based software solutions, web programming and WordPress development.
• Familiarity with government programs and services for veterans, families, and related civilian human services programs preferred.
• Experience with accessibility standards and guidelines experience.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge and prior experience with modern application development (HTML5, CSS3, javascript)
• Expert in responsive web design and architectures utilizing PHP, ASP.NET, and JSON technologies deployed on distributed Windows & Linux platforms.
• Experience with Word Press
• Experience with large-scale, multi-disciplinary software development project planning and management
• Experience applying web accessibility requirements in software solutions
• Adequate knowledge of relational database systems and Object Oriented Programming
• Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau a plus
• Excellent problem-solving, organization and communication skills


Web development
• Design, develop, expand and improve upon the Institutes web functionalities and interface systems (such as WordPress sites, digital signage, Formstack forms)
• Design, develop and/or maintain cross-system integration solutions
• Lead and support internal and external partners to develop web solutions to meet business needs
• Develop a unified feel and experience across the IVMF’s online presence and program websites

Web maintenance
• Maintain the functionality of all IVMF websites
• Troubleshoot and problem solve web related issues
• Maintain APIs and related web and database interfaces
• Analyze and remediate web infrastructure for accessibility compliance and promote responsive designs
• Address site vulnerabilities
• Collaborate with existing website and digital vendors to ensure a consistent online experience across IVMF’s online presence
• Analyze and recommend or lead continuous improvement opportunities on web infrastructure

Web documentation
• Develop software system and maintenance documentation
o Develop and maintain documentation on all the websites and APIs
o Develop and maintain policies related to web development and maintenance

Leadership and teamwork
• Produce usage metrics and reports
• Manage and guide students in their support to the IVMF and their learning of our tools and processes
• Translate business process and requirements into optimized web solutions
