Job Description

EDU 647 Statistical Thinking and Applications (3 credits).

Course Decription: The purpose of this course is to facilitate graduate students’ understanding of basic statistical concepts and operations in the quantitative research tradition. A number of foundational issues will be addressed, including science and causality; constructs, variables, and research questions; measurement concepts; research design and research validity; descriptive statistics; and inferential statistics. We will use an integrated approach to understanding the interrelationships of theory, research design, measurement, and statistics in the context of planning, accomplishing, and evaluating quantitative research articles.



Masters degree. Quantitative research experience and teaching at University level desirable

Job Specific Qualifications



Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.

Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.

Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.

Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.

Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.

Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.

Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.

Participating in student recitals or showings.

Collect and submit student assessment data for accreditation purposes, if applicable.

Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.

Providing an updated CV annually or upon request of the department or school.

Participating in departmental meetings or workshops.

Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
