Intern will work 8 – 12 hours per week from August 2018 – May 2019

Syracuse University Sustainability Management is seeking a part-time Sustainability Intern to research and help develop dynamic communications and outreach materials enabling the SU community to learn, interact, and take action on sustainability-related issues at SU.

Basic Responsibilities
The Intern will assist in all aspects of:
• Creation and management strategic communications materials, including news stories, audio stories, and various web content
• Social media regarding sustainability at SU (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others)
• Assisting in developing a recycling campaign for SU Residence Halls
• Liaising with SU environmental student groups
• Provide additional support to Sustainability Management projects as needed
• Campus outreach in various locations
• Sustainability related presentations to various campus populations
• Off campus professional and business related communications
• Research various topics and provide quality feedback
• Promote a non-discriminatory and educational workplace

• Strong interest and demonstrated experience in sustainability and climate-related issues as they relate to campus sustainability, as well as a desire to contribute to the future of SU;
• Excellent written, visual and oral communication skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills including an interest and ability to conduct face-to-face and group presentations;
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as needed;
• Must be able to work diverse hours, including nights and weekends

Additional Qualifications:

In addition to those above, we seek candidates that have:
• Experience coordinating programs with diverse groups of people around social or environmental issues;
• Experience in developing text and graphic content for effective communication materials including digital media (websites and social media), online and print (posters, infographics, and reports) using Adobe Creative Suite.
• Microsoft Office including excel
